The World Futsal Association (Asociación Mondiale de Futsal — AMF) is the governing global body of futsal and is headquartered in Asuncion, Paraguay. It was founded on 25 July 1971 as the International Futsal Federation (FIFUSA) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; on 1 December 2002, the organization was replaced, changed its name to Asociación Mundial de Futsal. futsal is a sport created in Uruguay in 1930. In 1965, the South American Football Confederation Hall (CSFs), the first international organization of the sport was created, currently affiliated with the AMF and in 1971 founded the International Federation of Futsal (FIFUSA), direct predecessor of the AMF. In 1982 the FIFUSA organized directly the first of three world championships that would realize until its dissolution in 1990, but later the Pan American Confederation of Futsal (PANAFUTSAL), an entity created after the disappearance of FIFUSA, organized over four world on behalf the former federation to the founding of the MFA in 2002. The FIFUSA and FIFA maintained a conflict over the use of the name “football”, which was settled in the 1980s, reserving “futsal” only for activities carried out under the supervision of FIFA. As a result, the FIFUSA decided in 1985, referred to sport as “futsal”; name, that was also appropriated by the same FIFA. In 1990 the South Americans and the rest of the continent federations formed the Pan-American Confederation of Futsal (PANAFUTSAL). This organization, created after the disappearance of FIFUSA by economic problems, signed in 2000 a letter of intent with the FIFA to join it. However, the agreement did not prosper and the members of the PANAFUTSAL created a new association of the sport to which national associations from other continents were joined. Thus, in December 2002 the World Futsal Association (AMF), composed of former members federations of FIFUSA (previous organization) was founded. Since its foundation has organized 4 World: Paraguay 2003, Argentina 2007, Colombia 2011 and Belarus 2015, in addition to the female world of futsal: 2008 Reus (Spain) and 2013 Barrancabermeja (Colombia). In turn has organized the cup of the world in Russia 2007, the first children’s world of futsal in Quito 2003, the U-20 World Cup in Concepción 2014 U-17 World Cup Paraguay 2016.
